Obamanation

I've been sort of holding off posting the various clips of the interesting coverage of Barack Obama's bid for the presidency because I expect there to be more.  But if I wait too long the links will just get harder to dig up.  Here then is at least round one:

Replublican commentator Ed Rogers went on Hardball with Chris Matthews and emphasized Obama's middle name "Hussein."

Hussein in the Membrane

Back in December, CNN commented on the confusion with the name with man-on-the-street bits illustrating that at least some of the public was confused about the difference between Obama and Osama.

What's in a Name?

Subsequently, CNN confused the name Obama with Osama.  They apologized, and Obama accepted.  But still, it's a sign of things to come.

The O Word

A FOX & Friends segment debated the revelations of drug use in Obama's auto-biography.

Snorts of Derision

Jeff Greenfield on CNN did a piece comparing Barack Obama's fashion sense to that of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  Greenfield insists that this was a joke, but the Blogosphere took it as a sleazy smear.  It could certainly help solidify the impression people are getting from other sources that Obama is somehow linked with terrorism.

Dress for Excess

FOX's John Gibson lays into Obama for being a smoker, asking "Would you vote for a smoker?"  Smokers are increasingly stigmatized in America, yet this does come across as a bizzare criticism, particularly coming from a right-wing source.  It was here-to-fore the lefties who had built a reputation for harranguing smokers.

Obama Burned

Then, a FOX affiliate flashes an image of Barack Obama while reporting on a child molester.

Suspect Timing

This, however, is the big one.  FOX News announces that not only was Barack Obama raised Muslim and trained in a madrasa (literally 'school,' but associated with radical Islamism), but that the story was leaked by the Hillary Clinton campaign.  They also make mention of the controversy over certain creative license that Obama seems to have taken in his autobiography.  What strikes me about this piece is the excitement the reporters display over this story.

Madrassa Youdrassa

Almost immediately, FOX got slammed pretty hard by CNN whose reporters actually fact-checked the story.  It turns out that not only was it not true, it was not leaked by the Clinton campaign.  CNN went so far as to actually send a reporter and camera crew to see the school for themselves.

FOX Burned

Countdown's Keith Olberman weighed in on the Madrassa story.

Madrassa Spicy Meat-a-ball

And finally, Jon Stewart weighs in on the controversy.

Madrassall, Folks
